The Things About The Handle And The Engraving Machine

ISO tool holder conforms to DIN 69871 standard. It is mainly used in small high-speed machine tools, especially in engraving machines. The knife handle is the link between the carving machine and the cutting tool. Usually, there is a high precision inner taper hole in the main shaft of the fine engraving machine. Its taper is the same as that of the tool handle. The tool handle can be automatically pulled into the machine tool spindle by a pull nail installed at the top. The lower part of the tool handle is the tool clamp part, which is used to clamp the tool. Usually, the tool handle of the fine engraving machine consists of four parts: nail, taper handle, flange, V-groove and tool clamp.


The type of taper shank: It depends on the way the tool shank is connected to the machine tool. The selection of the connection mode between tool holder and machine tool spindle mainly considers the mode of tool change (automatic or manual), the size of clamping force (taper, source of clamping force) and the speed of rotation.


There are two kinds of steep taper shank SK (BT/CAT) with taper of 7:24 And HSK with hollow taper shank of 1:10 (see 6.10-6.13 for details). Titanium Hao and steep tapered handle are selected for tool shank and tool rod recognition: SK type or BT type or 7:24 general type for short. The taper of the tool handle is 7:24, which is the most commonly used tool handle. It can withstand higher rotational speed and higher torque, and is mostly used in automatic tool changing machine tools. The taper handle is directly installed in the taper hole of the machine tool spindle, and there are connecting bolts (pull nails) at the top of the tool handle. The clamp of the machine tool spindle clamps the pull nail at the top of the tool handle and pulls the tool handle upward. At the same time, the tool handle is mainly clamped by the friction force between the tool handle and the wall of the machine tool spindle.

There are two kinds of computer engraving machines, laser engraving and mechanical engraving, which are divided into high power and low power. Because the application range of engraving machine is very wide, it is necessary to know the most suitable application range of various engraving machines.

Specification of the handle of the fine engraving machine:


The shank has specifications of 30, 35, 40, 45, 50 and 60, which indicate the size of the diameter somewhere in the shank (the specific location is different in different standards). Tool shank and tool rod are selected to recognize Titanium Hot machinery, quality assurance, taper specifications are usually selected by machine tool manufacturers according to the effective power of the machine tool or the overall length of the tool used. It is also related to the country of manufacture (DIN standard in Europe, ANSI standard in America, JIS standard in Japan). The commonly used specifications of tool shank are 30, 40 and 50, of which 40 is the most widely used.


Standards for the handle of an engraving machine:


German Standard DIN 2080, DIN 69871


DIN2080 (NT or ST for short): No V-groove (grasping trough), mainly used for manual tool-changing precision engraving machine, is a traditional machine tool by pulling the handle into the post-clamping.


DIN69871 (SK, JT, DIN, DAT or DV) is characterized by a V-groove, which facilitates the manipulator to take the tool out of the tool chain or tool library and load it into the spindle. The clamp of the spindle in the fine engraving machine is clamped on the pull nail of the tool handle from outside to inside. When the speed of the fine engraving machine is high, the centrifugal force makes the clamp loose outwards, which reduces the clamp force, and easily causes the tool handle to loose or fall off. Therefore, it is often used for processing with lower speed but larger torque. It can be divided into the following four types:


DIN 69871 A: No central cooling through hole


- DIN 69871 AD: with central cooling through hole


-DIN 69871 B: Cooling through hole with side flange


-DIN 69871 AD/B: Cooling through hole with core and side flange


But the side holes are threaded holes. When using core internal cooling, the side can be blocked with bolts.


Japanese Standard JIS B 6339 (MAS 403 BT) (abbreviated as BT)


BT type is a Japanese standard. Its size is totally different from DIN69871, IS07388/1 and ANSI. It can not be replaced. The symmetrical structure of BT type tool holder makes it better than other three kinds of tool holders in high speed stability.


American Standard ANSI B5.50 (abbreviated as CAT)


Installation size is similar to DIN69871 and ISO7388/1, but ANSI B5.50 tool holder can not be installed on DIN69871 and IS0 7388/1 machine tools due to the lack of a wedge, but DIN 69871 and ISO 7388/1 tool holders can be installed on ANSI B5.50 machine tools.


In the above four standards, except DIN2080, the handle is tightened by pull rod on traditional machine tools, the other three kinds of handle are tightened by pull nail on the top of the handle on the machining center (large-scale fine engraving machine). At present, BT type and DIN 69871 type (SK) are the two most widely used tool holders in China.
