Choosing Chuck Reasonably Make Your Machine More Like a Tiger

A chuck is a mechanical device used to clamp a workpiece on a machine tool. Workpiece attachments that clamp and position workpieces using radial movement of movable jaws that are evenly distributed on the chuck body. The chuck is generally composed of a chuck body, a movable jaw, and a jaw drive mechanism. The chuck body diameter is a minimum of 65 mm and a maximum of 1500 mm. Through-holes are provided in the center for passing through workpieces or bar stock. The back has a cylindrical or short-tapered structure and is connected directly to the spindle end of the machine tool via a flange. . The chucks are usually mounted on lathes, cylindrical grinders and internal cylindrical grinders. They can also be combined with various indexing devices for milling and drilling machines.

In order to achieve better accuracy and stability in machining, the chuck has become an important “plus item”. Currently, there are two types of chucks in the market: domestic chucks and imported (Taiwan and foreign) chucks. In terms of domestic chucks, Zhonghuan (Global) in Yantai and Huhehaote occupy a large part of the market share. Other major include Changzhou Kebor, Changzhou Youbit, Changzhou Bedford, and Changzhou name cards. Chuck sales in Taiwan accounted for 60% of the import chuck market, South Korea also holds a considerable share of the original Japanese and European and American chucks are high-end products.

From the number of chuck jaws can be divided into: two-jaw chuck, three-jaw chuck, four-jaw chuck, six-jaw chuck and special chuck. From the use of power can be divided into: manual chucks, pneumatic chucks, hydraulic chucks, electric chucks and mechanical chucks. From the structure can be divided into: hollow chuck and the chrono chuck.

In fact, the domestic production technology is fully capable of producing high-quality chucks, but the main problem is that there is a big gap between the heat treatment and the details of the processing and the imported chucks. Coupled with the large number of users in the domestic market and fierce competition, manufacturers have to control product costs as much as possible and trade off the market for lower prices. This has led to common problems with domestic chucks, such as poor stability, short life, and short repeat accuracy.

Most imported chucks, due to their rigorous process, guarantee a stable chuck with repeatable clamping accuracy and long life. As for the so-called one-point price, the price and technical content of domestic, Taiwanese, Japanese, and European and American chuck manufacturers are ranked from low to high. Among these, Taiwan's Chuck has achieved world-advanced technical standards at a reasonable price, and its 60% share of imports has proved its market acceptance.

In order to ensure good accuracy even after long-term use of the lathe chuck, lubrication work becomes particularly important. Improper or unsuitable lubrication will result in abnormal function at low pressure, weak clamping force, poor clamping accuracy, abnormal wear and stuck, etc., so the chuck must be properly lubricated.

First, apply molybdenum disulfide grease (black in color) at least once a day. Put the grease into the chuck nipple until the grease overflows the jaw face or the inner hole of the chuck (the inner hole cover and the connecting nut), but if When the chuck rotates high or a large amount of water-based cutting oil is used for processing, it needs more lubrication and must be determined according to different situations. Second, at the end of the job, be sure to use a blow gun or similar tool to clean the chuck body and the slide surface. The next thing to do is to remove the chuck and disassemble it at least every six months, keep the sliding surface of the jaws clean and lubricate, and increase the life of the chuck. And the use of anti-rust cutting oil to prevent the rust inside the chuck to prevent chuck rust and reduce clamping force, resulting in the workpiece can not be clamped.

Matching a suitable chuck will make CNC machine even more powerful. Manufacturers must choose according to the actual situation of their products, so as to make it play a better role.
